AVA in VYPE 2010 HS Volleyball Preview

The Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association (GHVCA)has named it's 2010 Greater Houston Pre Season Team.  These players are considered to be the top 30 high school players in the area.  AVA has a great number of  players named to this prestigious group.

The GHVCA’s 2010 preseason team includes: Fort Bend Austin senior Savannah Myklebust, Bellaire junior Khourtni Fears, Kingwood senior Lizzie Harris, Klein Oak senior Sindhu Vegesena, Fort Bend Travis senior Marissa Maas, Cinco Ranch senior Abby McGinnis, Foster junior Tiana Dockery, Dulles senior Mohna Reed, Cy Woods sophomore Chloe Collins and senior Daniela Arenas, Cy-Fair senior Kameron Hayes, Friendswood senior Jasmine Casey and junior Annie Mitchum, La Porte senior Jillian Humphrey, Dickinson senior Shelbee Berringer, Pearland senior Malorie Pardo and junior Kaylie Young, Seven Lakes senior Jill Ivy, The Woodlands seniors Katie Messing and Stacey Difranceso, College Park junior Katie Mitchell, Magnolia senior Katzy Randall, Clear Brook seniors Alicia Dittrich and Cati O’Connell, Clear Lake junior Kiara Wright, Clear Creek sophomore Ashley Smith, Klein Collins junior Molly McCage, Montgomery senior Caitlyn Ogletree, and Brenham seniors Scout Brooks and Caroline Young.

The first all-star tournament is Jan.8 at the Merrell Center in Katy and will feature four teams — north, south, east and west.

The all-stars practice and have a Nike-sponsored reception on Jan. 7 at the AVA facility in Dickinson.

Club Director Katy Jameyson-Garza was named to the UIL All-Century Volleyball Team in 2009

Club Director Jerry Linch was named Coach of the Year District 24-4A in 2009

AVA had 36 teams competing during the 2010 club volleyball season

Four the 4th season in a row more than 25 (100%) of our AVA Senior athletes earned College Scholarships

AVA has become one of the premier club organizations in the state, sending 11 teams to nationals.

AVA 14 and under divisions competed with an AAU schedule and had 7 teams compete at the AAU Girls' Junior National Championship

4 AVA athletes received national recognition by prepvolleyball (the leading source for volleyball news across the country)

AVA has had athletes particpate in the USA Volleyball High Performance Program at the National level

Our AVA Holiday Extravaganza awarded cool prizes to lucky raffle winners (WII, TV, Ipod, Dining Certificates) and a New Ford Mustang to one lucky winner!
