About me
Loure Dews was named the 2001 Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year as a senior at Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas were she earned Second Team All-District 24-5A honors in volleyball. Dews was selected as the team's most valuable player. Other awards consist of a standout varsity four year letter winner in track and field. Loure played club volleyball with Texas Riptide Volleyball. This allowed her to be seen by many colleges. Dews received a full scholarship to the University of Houston.
Dews was named Second-Team All-Conference in 2003. She played in 31 of Houston's 32 matches, making 30 starts. She finished among C-USA leaders in blocks per game with 1.26, ranked third on the team in kills with 3.15 per game, and finished with the best hitting percentage at .273, among Cougar starters. Dews tallied double-digit kills 21 times in 2003 and had her two highest kill totals of the season on Halloween weekend, knocking down 22 kills on Oct. 31 against Marquette and a career-high 23 kills on Nov. 1 against DePaul. Number 12 picked up a kill/block double-double on Oct. 25 with 15 kills and 12 blocks against USF. Loure collected 20 kills with a .474 hitting percentage against UAB on Oct. 24.
Loure has her dregee in Health and Human Performance and a minor in Sociology. While in school, Loure started coaching club volleyball and has been coaching for the past 7 years. Loure started coaching with Episcopal High School as their Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach and their Health and Wellness teacher in 2005. In the 2006-2007 school year she was the Head Volleyball Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Harby Junior High School located Alvin, Texas. Loure is presently the Health and Physical Education Teacher at Empowerment College Preparatory High School within HISD and the Head Volleyball Coach for Mount Carmel High School.
