Little did I know at the age of 8 years old what a large impact the sport of volleyball would have on my life. From YMCA, Club, and School ball on to accepting a Division 1 scholarship to The University of Texas Pan-American; my journey has been nothing short of amazing. Of course there have been ups and downs along the way but that is the beauty of it. Volleyball has taught me how to enjoy and celebrate triumphs and how to grieve and persevere through challenges and losses. There is so much to be learned from both and that is what has helped shape me into the person I am today. My love for the game continues through the players I coach.
Coaching background:
I started coaching club my sophomore year of college in 2009 in Edinburg, TX. After graduating with my Bachelors in Psychology I moved back to League City and joined the AVA team. I was with AVA for two seasons before moving to Chicago with my husband. I coached 7 seasons of club in Illinois and was blessed with the experience of coaching High School volleyball. I worked with the Freshman squad on the boys and girls side for two seasons and the last 4 seasons I assisted the Varsity team. My family moved back to TX in May of 2022. I am beyond excited to be back in action with my AVA family!
Coaching Philosophy:
The sky is the limit and the more you put into it the more you will get out of it.
Volleyball has taught me incredible life lessons far beyond the skills I have learned on the court and that is an important aspect I like to instill in my players. I am open and honest and appreciate communication and effort most of all. If you give it your all then we will be successful.
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.”
We are a team striving to accomplish the same common goal, to improve and to have fun doing it!
Practice philosophy:
I strive to create a positive learning environment while also building a strong bond as a team unit. Come ready to work and improve! Ask questions if you don’t understand something and be open to feedback/constructive criticism. At the end of the day I want you to walk away feeling confident and excited to be playing volleyball!
